Cultural Centre of the Philippines Manila


The CCP or Cultural Center of the Philippines, in Manila was started in 1969, to function as a platform for film, arts and culture. It is located, at the CCP Complex in Roxas Boulevard, which is in Pasay City. The Philippine President is in charge of the project, which is managed, by the National Commission for Culture and Arts.

Operas, ballet and orchestras are generally held at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo or Main Theatre. This theatre can seat 1,800 people. Apart from this the other theatres, such as the Little Theatre, Studio Theatre, Folks Art Theatre and the Dream Theatre, regularly hold pop concerts, both local as well as foreign, stage drama and work on experimental cinema. These theatres have a smaller seating capacity. Lectures and speeches are also delivered form these halls. The Center is imposing and constant restoration is taking place, to ensure that culture and art is brought home, to the masses.
